In Genoa, the FS Trenitalia ETR 600 003 is perfectly positioned for photography at Porta Principe station. I think the new Frecciarossa livery suits the train especially well.

Due to planned maintenance work, a large part of the Gotthard trains will be routed via the panoramic route during the low-traffic period in the second week of January. This includes this SBB RABe 501 Giruno, which is in Airolo heading towards Bellinzona.

The Westbahn ET 4010 029 (629/129) arrives at Bregenz station as WB 979 coming from Lindau Insel. Through the deployment of the Westbahn 4010 in Vorarlberg, the train sets nearly reach their birthplace at the Stadler works in nearby Switzerland. In the gap slots of the two-hourly offered EC Zurich - Munich, the S7 runs from Romanshorn to Lindau Insel. At least on weekends. For some time now, however, also at certain times during the week and, as already mentioned, to Lindau Insel instead of previously to Lindau Reutin. The quite good frequency of the S7 should justify the relatively long stop at Lindau Insel; I assume that the service will be expanded in the future and thus can be produced more cost-effectively. The picture shows the Thurbo RABe 526 745-5 as S7 25889 departing from Bregenz. April 19, 2026

SBB LEX RABe 522 220 has arrived at the destination of its journey as Léman Express 23535 on the new RL7 line. The train was very well occupied. The route first follows the usual CEVA line, then goes through the approximately one-kilometer-long Chatalaine Tunnel before the line merges into the Genève - La Plaine line. But back to the picture: The train is now standing in Vernier and must be quickly parked, as the RL5 to La Plaine will arrive in a few minutes. The train will be parked at the former station and current cargo site Vernier-Meyrin. Whether it will remain there until the evening for the return service is unknown to me. April 16, 2026

In Vallorcine, the SNCF Z 800 002 from Chamonix to Martigny crosses paths with the TMR BDeh 4/8 22 traveling in the opposite direction. Usually, a transfer is required in Vallorcine; here, the direct connection is likely due to a rolling stock rotation.

The BAM MBC Re 4/4 II (UIC 91 85 4420 506-8 CH-MBC) arrives at Morges with its gravel train from Gland, where the train is loaded onto rollbocks for onward transport to Apples. In the background of the image, you can see the TRAVYS diesel locomotive 92 85 8846 601-3, about which I currently have no further information.

To my surprise, the TER 96634 was operated with Corail coaches, and at the end, the control car seen here was running. The TER 96634 is on the route from Genève to Valence-Ville and was photographed as the train passed through La Plaine. Much more interesting would have been the BB 22200 running at the front, but since a Léman-Express RABe 522 was standing right behind me, I couldn't see the train coming from Genève. I am standing at the westernmost end of platform 1; the track on the left in the picture ends shortly before with a buffer stop. Also interesting (and the intended subject of the photo) is the old SNCF DC catenary mast, which was adapted as needed during the transition from DC to AC. But now it seems that the station at La Plaine is being rebuilt and the seventy-year-old masts will have to give way. April 16, 2026
