In my opinion, a very special gem of the Blonay Chamby Railway is the Bernina Railway RhB Ge 4/4 81, which is shunting here in Blonay to prepare its train for the return journey to Chaulin.

The RhB ABe 4/4 I No. 35 led the well-patronized Riviera Belle Époque train to Vevey and is now on the return journey to Chaulin, with the train running as an empty stock train from Blonay.

As already mentioned in other pictures of the Dm 2/2 No. 3 Biniou from Brittany, the draisine can be turned independently of location or even removed from the track to allow, for example, scheduled trains to pass.
While for removing it from the track a suitable place to park the Biniou must probably be available, turning it proves to be much easier, but as the following pictures show, every move must be precise and turning requires quite a bit of skill and strength.
Here the turntable of the Biniou is being set up. All parts are carried on the Dm 2/2 No. 3.
The picture was taken on the open track of the Blonay-Chamby Railway near Chantemele.

The turntable carried on the Dm 2/2 No. 3 is set up, and now the Biniou can carefully drive onto the turntable.

The most difficult part: The rotation of the Dm 2/2 No. 3. Since the rotation of the turntable takes place on a ball bearing, physical effort is required not only for the actual turning but also to ensure that the Biniou remains more or less horizontal. The pictures show how strenuous the rotation of the small, but not exactly lightweight, Dm 2/2 is.
At this point, a big THANK YOU for the demonstration that the Blonay Chamby Railway provided here with the Dm 2/2 No. 3!

Done! Now the Binou just has to drive from the turntable onto the track.

In double traction, the 152 074-1 (91 80 6152 074-1 D-DB) and the 152 005-5 (91 80 6152 005-5 D-DB) of DB Cargo Deutschland AG are running with a mixed freight train through Kirchen/Sieg on June 9, 2026. Actually, the total power output of 17,400 hp (12,800 kW) of the two locomotives is somewhat over-dimensioned here.

In Valais, in a hidden side valley, already near the border with Italy, I found a new FLIRT, which goes by the name EVO. It will probably be one of the first trains of this series in scheduled service: in Orsières, the TMR Region Alpes RABe 533 601 is waiting as R82 26325 for departure to Sembrancher. The new TMR Region Alps RABe 533 701 with the coat of arms Commune de St Léonard and the matching name La Souterraine carries the UIC number RABe 94 85 0 533 701-4 CH-RA. January 24, 2026
