On platform 1 in Lausanne, the SBB Historic Ae 4/7 10976 awaits departure with its training train. The locomotive was delivered in 1931 and remained in active service until 1995, when, after 64 years of service, it was incorporated into the SBB Historic locomotive collection. The SBB training train is traditionally hauled by "old-style" locomotives, which, while not exactly a perfect match for the train, provide an opportunity for the locomotives to be moved and for railway photographers to photograph them. The Association ASD 1914 offered a train for playing Jass (card games) on Saturday afternoon. While I don't see the point of playing cards on a train, it was a nice opportunity to see the ASD BCFe 4/4 No. 1 in service again, this time on the ASD. Since fog was forecast for the afternoon, I wanted to photograph the "Jass train" at Aigle station, but was somewhat disappointed to find it was positioned rather awkwardly (from a photographic perspective).

The image shows the GoldenPass Express (GPX) PE 4068 from Montreux to Interlaken Ost, hauled by the Ge 4/4 8004 "Swisstainable," which will be replaced by a BLS Re 465 in Zweisimmen. In 1844, the first railway line from France reached Basel. In 1957, the line was electrified. While the change in the power system did not pose a problem for passenger trains, freight trains between the marshalling yards of St-Lous and Muttenz had to be powered by diesel locomotives, resulting in complaints from residents living along the line about exhaust fumes. The SNCF subsequently purchased nine dual-current locomotives, C 20151 to C 20519, which were derived from the SBB Ee 3/3 II. From 1962 onwards, these small locomotives, with a maximum speed of only 40-60 km/h, were used in double traction for SNCF freight transport between St-Louis and Muttenz. The nine locomotives were replaced by the SNCF BB 20200 in 1971/1972 and sold to the SBB. On 9 May 1963, Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik Winterthur delivered the C 20188 to the SNCF and, as mentioned above, sold it to the SBB in 1971/1972, which used it as a shunting locomotive, most recently in Basel SBB until 2011. The locomotive then went to the Yverdon industrial works, where it moved ICN trainsets until 2019. In 2020, it was parked in Biel/Bienne and later transferred to Balsthal with the aim of putting the last remaining dual-current Ee 3/3 back into service.
As can be seen, ‘Team C 20155’ has done an excellent job, and the interesting locomotive, in its SNCF livery, is a particularly beautiful gem on Swiss tracks. The picture shows the locomotive in Balsthal during preparations for the open day on 8 November 2025.

When I rushed out of the office and snapped a photo of the Railadventure Re 6/6 11603 (Re 620 003-4), it was already too late; I have no idea what the locomotive is doing at the end of this train or what kind of train it is. (The day before, a Stuttgart S-Bahn transfer train was carrying a surprising number of container wagons).

The SNCF C 20155 UIC No. 97 85 1 932-0 (formerly SBB Ee 3/3 II 16515, ex SNCF C 20155) belonging to the ‘Team C-20155’ association stood behind switch 12 in Balsthal and waited until the R22 had turned around. It is now driving to the platform to take interested parties on a ride in the driver's cab to Klus and back. The Ee 3/3 II travels at block distance to the half-hourly R22 towards Klus and then returns to Balsthal before the R22 makes its return journey.

From the timetable change onwards, SBB Flirt trains will take over the service on the Delémont - Porrentruy - Bonfol and Porrentruy - Bonfol routes every half hour, and the CJ trains will then be retired.

With the new timetable from mid-December 2025, this typical Meroux/Belfort-Montbéliard TGV scene will be less easy to capture, as the SNCF trains of the 16 daily train pairs will cross paths in Meroux and only have a layover of about eight minutes. It will therefore require quite a bit of luck for a TGV to arrive during those eight minutes. The photo shows the SNCF Coradia Polyvalent Régiolis 51629M, which arrived in Meroux at 10:10 as MOBIGO TER 895055. The train will depart for Belfort at 11:03 as MOBIGO TER 895054. At the Belfort Montbéliard TGV station, the SNCF inOiu TGV 9877 from Strasbourg to Marseille St-Charles has arrived; this train is operated with unit 825.
