The SBB Re 4/4 II 11289 (Re 420 289-1) is waiting in Lausanne with its EWLV train to the Limmattal marshalling yard (RBL) via Brig for departure. Interestingly, the long train is hauled by only one Re 4/4 II, whereas usually two class 193 locomotives rented from SBB Cargo (or in early summer 2025) two Re 6/6 locomotives are/were used for this. July 28, 2026

Swiss Steam Festival 2026 - alongside Blonay Chamby Railway G 2x 2/2 105 and HG 3/4 No. 3, the G 2/2 TICINO was also in operation as a guest locomotive and handled the maneuver in Chaulin. Thus, the Suisse de la vapeur / Swiss Steam Festival 2026 was for me above all a reunion with the pretty, small, and simple locomotive which I extensively photographed over the two days. Here the locomotive is standing in Chaulin. May 25, 2026

Concept and parts from Alstom Belfort. Original NMBS numbers: 1301 to 1360, CFL numbers: 3001 to 3020. Max speed: 200km/h. Power: 5200kW. Power supply: 3000V and 25kV. RTI 242 543 almost took your photographer by surprise at Bratislava hl.st. on 2 June 2015. After the split of Czecho-Slovakia from 1 January 1993, all electrics Class 242.2 ended up in Czechia. However, as Ceske Drahy bought more modern traction, many 242.2 became surplus from 2015 on and found their way to Slovakian private opeartors like RTI and LokoRail, that deploy these machines not only within Slovakia, but also intraffic to Hungary and Czechia. Bulgarian Railways BZD also bought thyis type in the 1970s. In recent years, these Class 044 start to become surplus and find their way (back) into Slovak private ranks.
