The SBB Re 4/4 II 11263 (Re 420 263-6), which is equipped with a Scharfenberg type automatic coupling, is waiting in Lausanne with a freight train that also has automatic couplings for the onward journey to St-Triphon. Actually, the buffers would no longer be necessary with the automatic coupling (the wagons, for example, no longer have any), but the automatic coupling of the Re 420 can be turned away if necessary and the locomotive can run with the usual coupling.

The  Lötschberger  is back in the Bernese Oberland: BLS RABe 535  Lötschberger  have been serving the R and RE routes Spiez - Frutigen and Spiez - Interlaken Ost since the timetable change, thus replacing the RBDe 565/566. In the picture: the BLS RABe 535 121 is made available as a regional train to Frutigen in Spiez.

Since the Gotthard Highway Tunnel, which opened in 1981, needs to be renovated, they have the luxury of building a second tube during the renovation. After the renovation, both tubes will offer more safety by separating traffic directions, but will only be allowed to have one lane per tube. It will be interesting to see whether this will be adhered to... The excavated material will be transported to Flüelen by train. The Railpool 186 497 has arrived in Airolo with its block freight train consisting of Sggrrs S 204 double wagons. The wagons are then maneuvered under the loading device (left in the picture) and loaded. January 21, 2025
