A telephoto: Brand new alongside, well, a little older: the just delivered ABe 4/8 471 for the ASD and the ASD BCFe 4/4 N° 1 "TransOrmonan" (built in 1913) are shown in the TPC Dépôt from Aigle. “Showing yourself” required a lot of telephoto. The three ordered ABe 4/8 471 - 473 are to take over the services of the ASD BDe 4/4 401-404 (and de ex BLT Bt) over the next year. TransN has ordered another three ABe 4/8 and the CJ has ordered six ABe 4/8. The picture also shows the slightly different shape of the front of the ABe 4/8 compared to the previous multiple units and the paintwork that matches the shape.

Since the last deployments of NS reizigers Class 1700 on passenger trains is due to slip in the past from 9 December 2023, NSR organised a farewell trip through the Netherlands, using NS 1761 with a rake of DBIC coaches, notmally deployed on the IC-Berlijn (Amsterdam to Bad bentheim); the last passenger services for this once ubiquitious class electrics. On 19 NOvember 2023 NS 1761 enters Nijmegen, where she will take a break of ten minutes before continuing to Tilburg and Rotterdam, places, the IC-Berlijn was never to be sen.

On 2 December 2023 SSN organised an extra Kerst-Express (X-Mas Xpress) from Rotterdam to Aachen because the first (schedukled for 16 December) sold out within a week. To accommodate the many disappointed would-be travellers, SSN organised a second Kerst-Express two weeks before the original scheduled one. And so SSN 23 023 finds herself back at Venlo -oddly enough on Track 2 instead of Track 1- where the steamer will be swapped for CentralBahn 110 278 due to works at Mönchengladbach.

RFO 193 954 hauls a block train of closed wagons through Venlo Vierpaardjes on 2 December 2023. The preparations of massive engineering works are clearly visible: the double railway crossing nearby will be replaced by a road tunnel and wether or not train photos can be taken or not at this spot is very uncertain to say the least.

The SNCF X 2816 - in Morteau on an Easter extra trip. The X 2800 diesel multiple units were built from 1957 at Decauville (X 2801 - X 2816) and at Renault (X 2817 - X 2919), so a total of 119 units. The last X 2800 ran in regular traffic until 2009. The X ABD 2816 seen here belongs to the "Assosiation l'autrail X2800 du Haut Doubs" and can be seen maneuvering in Morteau as part of a special Easter trip. A good month ago it was strictly forbidden to pair flirts together, regardless of whether the series was the same or mixed. But fortunately the problem was found and solved and now the Flirts are running as a mixed bag again, as here in Burier the SBB long-distance RABe 523.5 (Mouettes) with an SBB Flirt 523.0 together as S 2 Le Brassus/Vallorbe - Le Day - Aigle at the Departure from Burier.

Only the slightly longer stay of the RE 18122 Neuchâtel - Frasne in Pontarlier enabled me to find the end of the rather long fence so that I could still photograph the train leaving for Frase. Experience shows that photo trips to France by public transport are possible, but they require a bit of luck every now and then and should be based on solid advance planning. Oct 29, 2019

Some NPZ RBDe 560 were prepared for French traffic from Basel to Mulhouse as RBDe 562. A conversion as a Domino was not carried out in order not to lose the French registration. The once planned mission to Mulhouse was abandoned after a few years. The last area of operation was RE Neuchâtel-Frasne as a TGV connecting train. The picture was taken in Noiraigue, shortly before the RBDe 562 were replaced by SBB Flirt RABe 522 following the timetable change.

The picture was taken right at the border near Les Verrières, part of the NPZ is still in France, the front part is already in Switzerland!
