The FS Trenitalia ETR 500 052 is waiting at Milano Centrale for its imminent departure (from 14:30) to Reggio di Calabria Centrale, where the train will arrive at 23:53 after a long journey of over 1,250 km. FS Trenitalia’s E 464.191 is preparing the iC 724 in Syracuse. The train will be loaded onto a ferry in Messina, along with an iC from Palermo. After crossing the Strait of Messina, the two trains will travel together to Roma Termini. Arrival in Rome is scheduled for 21:34.

The 12 km long Coleraine - Portrush branch line is usually served by older Class 450 diesel railcars. They run hourly and provide good connections in Coleraine to the Belfast - Derry and Derry - Belfast trains, which cross in Coleraine every two hours. At the terminus in Portrush, the NIR diesel railcar train 8457 ‘Carrickfergues Castle’ with railcar 454, centre car 794 and control car 784 waits for the return journey to Coleraine.

‘Foreign’ signals and overhead lines quickly give it away: this SBB RABe 512 was not photographed in Switzerland; since the 2025/26 timetable change, the SBB RABe 512 has been reaching Annemasse in France, albeit, like its ‘predecessors’, the SBB RABe 511, only on the single track ‘G’ electrified with 15,000 volts and 16 2/3 Hz.

The 12.4 km long TMB (Tramway du Mont-Blanc) rack railway has been running from Saint Gervais les Bains Le Fayet station to the Nid d'Aigle in the Mont Blanc massif since 1913, with the first section to Col de Voza having been opened in the summer of 1908. A curious feature is the ‘naming’ of the vehicles: they have no identification or number but are named after the director's daughters, and each train has its own colour. At the hairpin bend between Le Fayet and St-Gervais, the green ANNE with the control car of the same name is on its way to Col de Voza; the rest of the route is currently closed due to avalanche danger.

With two Re 6/6 locomotives, the EWKV SBB Cargo freight train from Lausanne Triage to Zürich RBL via Brig and Kandersteg is traveling between Rivaz and St-Saphorin. At the front of the train is the red SBB Re 6/6 11630 (Re 620 91 85 4 620 030-7 CH SBBC)  Herzogenbuchsee  leading the train, with the Re 6/6 11624  Rothrist  assisting behind it. The picture was taken between Rivaz and St-Saphorin at the now well-known photo spot.
