Double header! On 21 September 2014, the DDM celebrated 90 years of Einheitspacifics (Standard Class 01) -although the first Class 01 entered service in 1926. Nevertheless, 01 202 is about to haul one of the half-hourly deployed steam shuttles to Marktschorgast via the Schiefe Ebene.

A very special occasion at geldermalsen took place on 23 April 2003. SSN decided to send a passenger train and a photo freight (with the 65 018 seen here) into the Betuwe via a single track line to give the many passengers a ride near the Betuweroute freight artery which was then build. Sadly, the SSN planners did not take into account that that very day, ebngineering works on Tiel--Elst made any ride on the single line impossible. So the trains were cut short at Geldermalsen and to give the passengers (and coincidentally viewers like your photographer) yet a good day, both trains were given a photo session at Geldermalsen.
