Four tracks, three routes, two power systems, and one train – between St-Jean and Genève, the SBB LEX RABe 522 228 is operating as RL5 23042 on the journey from Genève to La Plaine.

Four tracks, three routes, two power systems, and one train – between St-Jean and Genève, the SBB LEX RABe 522 228 is operating as RL5 23042 on the journey from Genève to La Plaine.
The train runs on the track remaining after the construction of the line to Genève Aéroport, which is designed according to SNCF standards and thus electrified with AC 25,000 volts 50 hertz. To the right of it run the two tracks of the double track to and from Genève Aéroport, and on the far left in the picture is the track to Annemasse. These three tracks are electrified with SBB 16,000 volts 2/3 hertz. The second track from the right is also used by trains to Annemasse up to the St-Jean junction, which probably explains why right-hand traffic prevails on the line to Annemasse.

At first glance, a mundane shot: a rear view of an SBB LEX RABe 522; the special feature: the SBB RABe 522 229 is operating as RL7 23535 on its way from Annemasse to Vernier and leaves the CEVA line at Jonction to reach Vernier via the connecting track. This connecting track was not used by passenger trains until the timetable change 2025/26 and is electrified with 25,000 volts 50 Hertz. It serves the (light) freight traffic from Genève La Praille to France (or local freight traffic).
Unfortunately, I have not found a route number for this line.

The SBB LEX RABe 522 212 has arrived at its destination Vernier as Léman Express RL7 from Annemasse and is now being taken out of service. Unfortunately, only very few trains operate on this route.
