The refurbished small RB (Réseau Breton) draisine Dm 2/2 N° 3 Biniou of the Blonay-Chamby railway is on a test drive in Blonay, it will be on the weekend of 7th/8th. Sept. officially put back into operation and presented to guests.

In addition, the Dm 2/2 has been with the B-C for a very long time, as the following comments show:

Around fifteen handcars from the company “Billard”, a renowned French railcar manufacturer, were in use on the almost 400 km long route network in Brittany.
An ingenious device of movable rails mounted on a pivot point allows the trolley to be turned around to change direction or parked on a section of track next to the main track to clear the track for trains.

In 1968, Blonay-Chamby in Loudeac removed some vehicles from the Breton network as they were being dismantled. Since there was still a small space available on the transport wagons, it was decided at the last moment to also take trolley number 3, which was available at the station, with us. This draisine, called “Le Biniou” in BC, will be used for the initial maintenance work between Blonay and Chamby and also for the dismantling of the line between St-Légier and Châtel-St-Denis. It is later taken out of service after it is damaged. Some thirty years later, the arrival of a new member, a retired auto mechanic, brought this vehicle back to life. Since the original “Renault Frégate” engine was beyond repair, a Peugeot J9 engine was adapted to it.

Recently revised, the Dm 2/2 N° 3 will be on the 7th/8th. Will be used in September 2024.

The railway adventure of the Bernese Oberland - Off-topic, since the JS G 3/3 No. 6 is still under revision and the railways of the Bernese Oberland region were electrified early on, steam operation also took place, and how! After steam operation was prohibited during the summer due to forest fire risk, the HG 3/4 No. 3 of the Blonay Chamby Railway now shows with a magnificent steam plume what was long thought impossible. The HG 3/4 3 is in the Baye de Clarens gorge on the way from Blonay to Chaulin.
