Finally, a "real" Brünig Railway train in Meiringen again! The SBB HGe 4/4 I 1992 Giswil arrives at Meiringen station with its special train celebrating the "20 Years of the Zentralbahn" anniversary. The locomotive, with its typical SBB face resembling an Ae 6/6 or Re 4/4 II, was acquired in 1954 along with the HGe 4/4 I 1991 to relieve the pressure on the Deh 4/4 on the Brünig Railway's mountain section. The locomotive is so powerful that, on the one hand, it was given the name "Muni," but, on the other, the locomotive's transmission wasn't quite up to the task. "Muni" means something like "bulky bull." A good 43 years ago, I was able to photograph an SBB Brünig Railway HGe 4/4, and now I finally had the pleasure of capturing this beautifully designed locomotive again. August 23, 2025
