Each year, Dutch railway enthousiasts' society NVBS (Nederlandse Vereniging van Belangstellenden in het Spoor- en Tramwezen) launch a special train on Dutch tracks on the birth day of the King/Queen of the Netherlands. Since 2013, King's Day is held on 27 April, the birth day of H.M. King Willem-Alexander of Oranje-Nassau.

Each year, Dutch railway enthousiasts' society NVBS (Nederlandse Vereniging van Belangstellenden in het Spoor- en Tramwezen) launch a special train on Dutch tracks on the birth day of the King/Queen of the Netherlands. RFO 1831 has received a special livery to celebrate the 95th annivgersary of the NVBS, hence the big '95' at the cab.

Akiem 186 019 and a sister loco pass through Kaarst-Broicherseite on 24 April 2026. THese locos were bought from Bombardier by NS Reizigers in 2010, butr sold after eight years to Akiem in a sale-and-lease-back construction. With the demise of ICR coahces and the influx of modern EMUs, NSR found the TRAXX engines to be surplus and returned them to Akiem.

Train Rental always deploys somethingh interesting on the local line RB37 between Krefeld Hbf and Neuss Hbf. Mostly older ex-DB Class 111, but more modern 145s are also to be seen. On 24 April 2026 145 097 operates the RB37 and is sen here on 24 April 2026 pushing that train through Kaarst-Broicherseite. The loco carries a play on the DB 1980s/1990s colour scheme of a pinkish red, a paint job these locos never had during their DB days.

On 27 April 2026 RC/ÖBB 1293 185 hauls a sister loco and a coal train slowly through Lage Zwaluwe towards Venlo and Germany. Since RCC took over Captrain Netherlands, the deployment of ÖBB Vectrons Class 1293 in the Netherlands has increased massively.

Don't worry, I won't be run over by the approaching train! At Bregenz Hafen, the through track (right in the picture) and the stub track on the left (in the picture/for the S-Bahn trains turning here) each have their own barrier.
This allowed the SBB ETR 610 heading to Munich to be photographed from this position shortly after departure in Bregenz.

At first glance, a mundane picture; but upon closer inspection, the destination display reveals the special feature: The SBB LEX RABe 522 220 is on its way to Vernier as Léman Express 23535 of the new RL7 line! Introduced with the timetable change, the RL7 connects Annemasse directly with Geneva Airport or with Vernier. The trains use the approximately 1 km long tunnel from Châtelaine, which is also used by freight trains on the Bellegarde - Genève La Praille route. Unfortunately, the service, which is based on strong demand, is not very extensive with only four train pairs per day, especially considering that one train pair runs to and from the airport, two trains go to Vernier, but only one returns, and the remaining three trains operate only on the Annemasse - Lancy Pont Rouge section. Our train from Palermo to Messina, the iC 730, was stationed on platform 1 at Palermo Centrale that day, which did not exactly make photographing easy... The FS Trenitalia E 464 213 is leading the train, which today is also operating with the train section from Siracusa to Messina, as the Messina - Taormina route was still closed the day before.
