A nice surprise at Beekbergen during the VSM spectacle Terug-naar-Toen: Polish tank engine TKp23 stands -at least externally- restored in the depot at Beekbergen. For years within the ranks of VSM there was some talk about discarding this Polish machine.

On 14 December 2024, VSM 50 307 quits Arnhem Centraal  in front of the six times daily Christmas-Express steam shuttle train between Arnhem Centraal and Nijmegen. The weekend of 14/15 December 2024 VSM deployed six shuttle services with one train set, consisting of a dozen of coaches (from local two-axle wagons to luxurious dining cars) and a steam loco at each end. ON the evening of the 14th however, 50 307 took minor damages and the preservationist of the VSM decided to replace the grossOhr (Big Ear) with two Dutch 1950s Diesel locomotives.

VSM's  23 076 enters Oss with a steam shuttle to Nijmegen from 's-Hertogenbosch on 28 September 2024. Hobbyist organisation Het Stoomgenootschap tries to organise each year a day of steam shuttles between their home town 's-Hertogenbosch and another city. For 2024 Nijmegen was chosen and four steam shuttles were planned for Saturday 28 September 2024. Sadly, due to several circumstances, one had to be cancelled due to suffering del;ays between 60 minutes an two hours!
The first steam shuttle from 's-Hertogenbosch was planned to run thourgh Oss toward Nijmegen, but was literally sidelined instead, adding to the delay, but giving photographers at Oss some more opportunities to take pictures. Here, VSM's  50 307 stands at Oss with the first steam shuttle of the day to get sidelined in order to let the massively delayed normal trains continue their journeys. For VSM's  50 307 it was the first performance on the main line since her extensive rebuild back to 50 307 from ReKo condition (as 50 3564).
