As can be seen here, SBB RABDe 502 (Twidnexx) trains are increasingly dominating long-distance services.

On the Lausanne - Biel/Bienne line, long-distance traffic is firmly in the hands of the SBB ICN RABDe 500. However, due to the construction-related closure of the Fribourg - Bern line, two additional train pairs per day run from Neuchâtel to Lausanne and back to relieve the scheduled ICN services. Typically, one of these train pairs is operated by two RABe 502 Twindexx locomotives. The photo shows two of the rarely seen Twindxx RABe 502 locomotives traveling from Neuchâtel to Lausanne between Ependes (VD) and Essert-Pittet. The Lausanne - Yverdon line opened on May 7, 1855, from Bussigny to Yverdon, and two years later, service to Lausanne began. On November 1, 1921, the Chavornay-Ependes section was upgraded to double track, and on May 14, 1933, the Ependes-Yverdon section of the line, which had been electrically operated since February 1, 1925, was upgraded to double track. It should be noted that the double track upgrade of the Lausanne-Bienne/Bienne line began in stages as early as 1872 and is now nearing completion with the final section, Ligerz-Twann. July 12, 2025

Sur la ligne Lausanne - Bienne, le trafic longue distance est fermement assuré par les ICN RABDe 500 des CFF. Cependant, en raison de la fermeture pour travaux de la ligne Fribourg - Berne, deux paires de trains supplémentaires par jour circulent entre Neuchâtel et Lausanne aller-retour pour soulager les services ICN programmés. En général, l'une de ces paires de trains est exploitée par deux locomotives RABe 502 "Twindexx". La photo montre deux des rares locomotives Twindexx RABe 502 circulant de Neuchâtel à Lausanne entre Ependes (VD) et Essert-Pittet. La ligne Lausanne - Yverdon a été inaugurée le 7 mai 1855, de Bussigny à Yverdon, et deux ans plus tard, le service vers Lausanne a commencé. Le 1er novembre 1921, la section Chavornay-Ependes a été mise à double voie, et le 14 mai 1933, la section Ependes-Yverdon de la ligne, électrifiée depuis le 1er février 1925, a été mise à double voie. Il convient de noter que la mise à double voie de la ligne Lausanne-Bienne a débuté par étapes dès 1872 et approche maintenant de son achèvement avec la dernière section, Ligerz-Twann. 12 juillet 2025 
