Since ancient times, the Magadino Plain has been a fertile landscape until a landslide devastated the area in 1515. With the construction of the railway to Locarno at the end of the 19th century, the swampy landscape was drained and the Ticino River was straightened. For this purpose, the Consorzio Correzione del Fiume Ticino received this small G 2/2 Bn2t locomotive. The locomotive was built by Arnold Jung in Jungenthal near Kirchen in 1889 under factory number 59. In 1941, the locomotive was taken out of service and on May 20, 2016, it was loaned by the Travani family to Martin Horath. Since September 3, 2016, the locomotive has been running again. The small locomotive offered cab rides for enthusiasts in Brienz. Even though the locomotive does not shine as beautifully as the SNCF 141 R 1244, I like it very much, as it was the very first time I was able to ride on a steam locomotive. Now I saw the small locomotive again in Chaulin, where it took over shunting duties during the steam festival and, as shown in this picture, is being supplied with water and wood in the Chaulin locomotive servicing area.
