Since ancient times, the Magadino Plain has been a fertile landscape until a landslide devastated the area in 1515.

(ID 58320)

Since ancient times, the Magadino Plain has been a fertile landscape until a landslide devastated the area in 1515. With the construction of the railway to Locarno at the end of the 19th century, the swampy landscape was drained and the Ticino River was straightened. For this purpose, the Consorzio Correzione del Fiume Ticino received this small G 2/2 Bn2t locomotive. The locomotive was built by Arnold Jung in Jungenthal near Kirchen in 1889 under factory number 59. In 1941, the locomotive was taken out of service and on May 20, 2016, it was loaned by the Travani family to Martin Horath. Since September 3, 2016, the locomotive has been running again. The small locomotive offered cab rides for enthusiasts in Brienz. Even though the locomotive does not shine as beautifully as the SNCF 141 R 1244, I like it very much, as it was the very first time I was able to ride on a steam locomotive.
Now I saw the small locomotive again in Chaulin, where it took over shunting duties during the steam festival and, as shown in this picture, is being supplied with water and wood in the Chaulin locomotive servicing area.

Blonay - and there goes a train to Montreux! That hasn't happened for a long time. The MOB FZe 6/6 2002 is leaving Blonay with its Riviera Belle Epoque train 200207E. The Railway Adventure of the Bernese Oberland of this year's autumn event of the Blonay Chamby Railway begins.

The railway adventure of the Bernese Oberland - The MOB FZe 6/6 2002 (of the Blonay Chamby Railway) is standing in Montreux, waiting for its composite train (barely visible far in the background) to roll back into the station in order to take it over for the return journey as the Riviera Belle Epoque to Chaulin.

The railway adventure of the Bernese Oberland - Off-topic, since the JS G 3/3 No. 6 is still under revision and the railways of the Bernese Oberland region were electrified early on, steam operation also took place, and how! After steam operation was prohibited during the summer due to forest fire risk, the HG 3/4 No. 3 of the Blonay Chamby Railway now shows with a magnificent steam plume what was long thought impossible. The HG 3/4 3 is in the Baye de Clarens gorge on the way from Blonay to Chaulin.
