Since ancient times, the Magadino Plain has been a fertile landscape until a landslide devastated the area in 1515.
The Bernina Railway RhB Ge 4/4 81 of the Blonay Chamby Railway is in Chamby on its way to Chaulin.



Swiss Steam Festival / Schweizer Dampffestival 2026 - Although I am now fortunate enough to be able to visit the Festival Suisse de la vapeur more often, one might think that the subjects would eventually run out. But as this picture shows, that is not the case. In this instance, it is due to the visit of the G 2/2 TICINO! In my opinion, the A 3/5 may be one of the most beautiful steam locomotives, but the G 2/2 TICINO has truly grown on me, especially since I was able to ride in the cab of the G 2/2 TICINO for the first time in 2018. I was all the more delighted that the G 2/2 TICINO is enriching this year’s steam festival. After initially thinking that it would be hardly possible to photograph the locomotive in the crowd, this opportunity presented itself: The little TICINO is being supplied with coal/wood and water in the locomotive servicing facility at Chaulin to take on shunting duties again at the museum station. Blonay - Chamby - La Der 2026 - 60 après les CEV (marking the end of the season for the Blonay–Chamby Railway, 60 years after the closure of the CEV line). Operating as the Biniou Express (BEX) under train number 30115, the Dm 2/2 railcar No. 3 arrives at Chamby station on track 31. While it is, in all likelihood, the shortest passenger train in the world, it still manages to accommodate a fair number of travelers—so many, in fact, that I couldn't manage to count them all while also taking photographs; I would estimate there were at least a dozen people on board. 125 years of the MOB—and the fulfillment of a long-held dream: a direct connection between Montreux and Interlaken! On the right in the image is the FZe 6/6 2002; ordered in 1931 and arriving in 1932—right in the midst of the Great Depression—it may have technically arrived too late, yet it perfectly embodies the MOB’s philosophy: to be different from the rest! 125 years of the MOB: I wish the MOB all the best, and may it once again demonstrate that seasoned, reliable service—a quality that has been sorely missed in recent years.
