In July 2016 I found a photo location north of Faido, just above the Broscerina Tunnel with a view of the 103 meter long Polmengo Bridge.

In July 2016 I found a photo location north of Faido, just above the Broscerina Tunnel with a view of the 103 meter long Polmengo Bridge. When I visited the photo location again this year, I went one step further, more precisely, to an abandoned guardian's house just before the upper portal of the 1567 meter long Pratotunnel, which, as a 360 ° circular tunnel, overcomes a height difference of a good 40 meters. The picture shows the IC 10667 that is traveling from Basel SBB to Lugano and will reach the Prato circular tunnel immediately behind my back. I was able to photograph the two SBB Giruno RABe 501s again a good two minutes later on the Polmengo Bridge (see image ID 50365). It is precisely experiences like these that make the Gotthard Railway so attractive.

Due to the closure of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, all trains operated for several weeks via the old Gotthard railway lines, which are now called the Gotthard Panorama Route, resulting in a colorful range of operations. In the picture, a Re 460 with an IC heading north is passing through Göschenen.

Due to the closure of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, trains ran again for several weeks on the classic Gotthard railway line. In the picture, an SBB RABe 501 Giruno shortly before Faido on its way towards Lugano.

Due to planned maintenance work, a large part of the Gotthard trains will be routed via the panoramic route during the low-traffic period in the second week of January. This includes this SBB RABe 501 Giruno, which is in Airolo heading towards Bellinzona.
