On 14 December 2024, VSM 50 307 stands in front of the six times daily Christmas-Express steam shuttle train at Arnhem Centraal. The weekend of 14/15 December 2024 VSM deployed six shuttle services with one train set, consisting of a dozen of coaches (from local two-axle wagons to luxurious dining cars) and a steam loco at each end. ON the evening of the 14th however, 50 307 took minor damages and the preservationist of the VSM decided to replace the grossOhr (Big Ear) with two Dutch 1950s Diesel locomotives.

In for the long haul: Stichting CREW 2454 bought this 99 years old electric rail car Mat'24 Blokkendoos C-9002 'JAAP' from a defunct preservationists' society that went bankrupt. The new owner, already in posession of some very fine restored items, took no half measures and deployed JAAP on a series of test rides of increasing lengths. The last test ride was on 16 April 2023 and took the 9002 from Roosendaal via Tilburg, Nijmegen, Zwolle and Groningen back to Roosendaal -via Amersfoort, Utrecht and Breda. Roosendaal-Groningen is about the longest ride a train can make in the Netherlands and was an ideal close of the test programme. Here, C-9002 stands at Nijmegen, where she had some minor maintenance before departing for the long haul.
 Since thereis not yet a category 'historic EMUs' I put this one into Stations-Gelderland.

The end of an era is approaching: after four decades time has begun to come to say farewell to the hauled ICR stock in the Netherlands with the approval of Alstom-build ICNG EMUs in January 2023. A first batch of 17 ICR coaches gets hauled by Strukton 1740 on 6 January 2023, seen here passing through Arnhem. The ICR stock will be retained in reserve, but in 2025 ICNG is projected to have taken over all ICR tasks.

NIAG 186 142 gets coupled to the SSN Kerst-express with 01 1075 now steaming, but not hauling the train due to the lack of ECTS on the steamer (needed for Zevenaar Oost-Elten, which is part of the track Arnhem<=>Emmerich) on 17 December 2022 at Arnhem. NIAG 186 142 has deputised ofter in such cases, where a steam train is lpanned to cross the Dutch-German border at Emmerich.
