Rail Pictures, Railway Photos, Trains from Februar 2026

202 Photos
February 2026 is characterized by a strong focus on classic and transitional motive power in northern Germany, with multiple images documenting the final months of DB Class 218 diesel operations on the Westerland (Sylt) route and the associated loco swaps at Itzehoe. The presence of Class 245 and 218 locomotives in Niebüll, alongside the upcoming introduction of Class 248.5 electro-diesels, highlights the changing traction landscape. Dutch Rail Force One Vectrons, notably 193 627, appear repeatedly, emphasizing their international leasing activity and operation for RegioJet in the Czech Republic. Several photos revisit former NS EMUs and TRAXX Class 186 in the Netherlands, reflecting on their withdrawal and preservation. Weather conditions range from frosty or snowy scenes in Hamburg-Harburg and Osnabrück to low winter sunlight in various Dutch locations. The expansion of SBB RABe 512 and 522 units into Annemasse, France, marks cross-border service developments. Danish and Swedish locations like Kolding, Odense, and Malmö also feature, with a mix of freight and passenger traffic, including battery and regional trains. The month's motifs are shaped by transitions in rolling stock, international locomotive leasing, and the continued modernization of signaling and infrastructure. EU label: AI-generated content
X 2019 enters Malmö Central on 17 February 2025. Once a bustling vantage site, the surface section of Malmö Central only sees a few fast trains to/from Stockholm and this one regional connection since the four-track underground station has swallowed up almost all railway traffic of Malmö Central.

The 12.4 km long TMB (Tramway du Mont-Blanc) rack railway has been running from Saint Gervais les Bains Le Fayet station to the Nid d'Aigle in the Mont Blanc massif since 1913, with the first section to Col de Voza having been opened in the summer of 1908. A curious feature is the ‘naming’ of the vehicles: they have no identification or number but are named after the director's daughters, and each train has its own colour. At the hairpin bend between Le Fayet and St-Gervais, the Blue MARIE with the control car of the same name is on its way from the Col de Voza to the Saint Gervais les Bains Le Fayet train Station.
