Rail Pictures, Railway Photos, Trains from Januar 2025

January 2025 is marked by a strong focus on Swiss railways, particularly the Gotthard route, where numerous images capture SBB RABe 501 "Giruno" units and RABe 500 ICN trains traversing Airolo, often in snowy winter conditions. The temporary rerouting of most IC/EC trains over the classic Gotthard line via Göschenen-Airolo due to maintenance in the base tunnel is a notable operational highlight. Freight activity is well represented, especially around Tilburg-Reeshof and Airolo, with multiple Railpool 186 series locomotives and container or excavation trains related to the Gotthard road tunnel construction. Regional and shunting operations in Renens VD feature SBB Cargo Eem 923 013-8 and TL Be 4/6 units, alongside the introduction of new IC 1 stops in Renens to relieve Lausanne station. German and Dutch locations also appear, with various class 186 locomotives and extra trains around Hausach, Titisee, and Kaarst. Several photos document preserved and heritage locomotives, including UEF's V 100 1019 and steam events at Maldegem. Advertising liveries and special paint schemes, such as the FrachtBahn 193 968 with Siemens branding and Crossrail 186 269, are recurring visual themes. Overall, the month combines winter rail operations, infrastructure works, and a blend of modern, freight, and historic rolling stock across central Europe.
