Re 425 (BLS Re 4/4)
EU label: AI-generated content

On 31 December 2018 BLS 194 stands at the rear of an Autoverladezug (car carrying train) through the Lötschbergtunnel at the terminal in Kandersteg. These trains still run quite often -sometimes every ten minutes- but the era of the old brownies banking/hauling these trains are almost complete over.

After the BLS RE 11 4545 with the BLS RABe 528 111 and 101 from Biel/Bienne arrives in Iselle, the line ends on the RE 1 to Bern. But first, the BLS car tunnel train must depart with the Re 4/4 195 to Brig. A few words about the location of this photo. I was standing on the sloping road next to a wall and was able to comfortably position my camera on the wall's edge. The whole thing was observed by Italian border guards, which guarantees that the law was fully observed. August 17, 2024

In Kandersteg, in addition to the BLS Re 465 004 seen in the background, the two BLS Re 4/4s 192 and 184 are also ironed up and are probably waiting for their next assignment; but the time of the beautiful BLS Re 4/4 really seems to be running out. September 12, 2024

The BLS Re 4/4 182 is parked in front of the depot in Brig. Sadly, the era of this BLS locomotive series is coming to an end. Currently, the BLS Re 4/4s are only used in motor tunnel traffic, and even there, the Re 465 is increasingly taking over services. January 3, 2024

A somewhat daring picture given the lighting conditions: the BLS Re 4/4 191 is waiting in Goppenstein with its (quite short) car tunnel train (AT1) in a structure for the departure to Kandersteg. The “superstructure” is called the “Meigenbachtunnel” and is 114 meters long. Sept. 12, 2024
