The little train of the Chemin de Fer de la Rhune with the He 2/2 in the magnificent landscape of La Rhune. The peak is not very high (905 meters above sea level), but it is detached and therefore offers fantastic views. The mountain ridge also forms the border with Spain. April 12, 2024

The summit: One of the Chemin de Fer de la Rhune three-phase AC locomotives He 2/2 departs with its train from the summit station La Rhune, located in the Basque Country right at the border to Spain, at only 905 meters above (the nearby!) sea level, but with a fantastic view. April 12, 2024

France offers not only fast trains but also very cozy ones: Shortly after the summit station La Rhune (905 m above sea level), the Chemin de fer de la Rhune He 2/2, built in 1914 by SLM/BBC, with a maximum speed of 9 km/h, is on its first train of the day heading down to the valley, where valley station refers to the mountain pass Col de Saint-Ignace at 198 m above sea level. In the background, the view glides over the mighty Atlantic as well as the two towns of Ciboure and Saint-Jean-de-Luz. April 12, 2024

One of the six Chemin de Fer de La Rhune He 2/2 three-phase locomotives with its train at the summit station La Rhune. The summit station is located at just over 900 meters above sea level, which is only about 12 kilometers away from the sea. April 12, 2024
