Saar Rail is one of the last operators to use ex-DB Class 151 electrics, but that era will also come to an end. On 31 March 2026 SR 151 161 hauls a so called "Suppenzug" (soup train) of molten steel in torpedo shaped wagons from Dillinger Hütte into Völklingen.

Saar Rail 151 161 runs round in Völklingen on 31 March 2026. Once ubiquitious with DB ranks and later seeing much service with private ranks, the age of six-axle Class 151 is sadly drawing to a close. So enjoy them while you still can! 

On 31 March 2026 SR 151 161 has brought a so called "Suppenzug" (soup train) of molten steel in torpedo shaped wagons from Dillinger Hütte into Völklingen. After some to-and-fro this train stands in front of the disused old steel plant of Völklingen,m which is now an UNO Heritage Site. 
