That weekend, the 30th anniversary of the last coal-fired DB Pacifics in the Rheine area ought have been commemmorated, but DB banned steam operatoions due to hot weather conditions and the risk of bush fires. Instead of two steam locos, the Dutch railway fans that travveled from Rotterdam to Rheine had to make do with an old electric.

EuroBahn is one of many modern-equipped passenger carrying operators in Germany that have not exactly prepared well their business and has to rent some old stock -much to the joy of the railway fan fraternity because it is older stock and the train is running.
