Scanned photo of the past: on 7 January 2000 ShortLines.HGK DE11 hauls a container train through Dordrecht-Zuid. In 1999 Rotterdam Port Authority's own local operator ShortLInes wanted to take on NS Cargo on main line freigvhts head-on burt lacked a partner. HGK, looking to expand her container services into the Nedtherlands, jumped at the bandwagon and provided traction -three ex-DB West 240s amongs them. These locos were built by MaK of the -failed- type DE 1024. After DB tested and tried the three locos they decided to invest more on electrification and sold the locos to HGK in the 90s. The type went dpown forever in 2013 with all three locos scrapped. HGK is now part of RheinCargo and ShortLines went down in the fall-out of an enormous corruption scandal focussing on the Rotterdam Port Authority. Only the picture and the station of Dordrecht-Zuid remain...
