The car tunnel trains on the AT1 route (and AT2 in high season) to Kandersteg (or Iselle) and AT 3 Brig Iselle are the last scheduled areas of operation for the BLS Re 4/4 (Re 425).

The car tunnel trains on the AT1 route (and AT2 in high season) to Kandersteg (or Iselle) can be found photographically in a very awkward place in the Kandersteg train station and are therefore difficult to photograph. However, the route to the tunnel offers good opportunities to photograph the last BLS Re 4/4 in use. I still stayed at Kandersteg train station and was able to photograph the BLS Re 4/4 185 with its car tunnel train in the station. The train is waiting for the BLS RABe 521 to depart as R1 from Domodossola to Bern, in order to then travel as a service train towards Frutigen. Jan 3, 2024
