S-Bahn Rhein-Rühr delpoyed a batch of these ex-DR locos where they released the 111s hitherto in S-Bahn service (111 111-188 with special S-Bahn livery).

On 13 April 1999 DB Regio 110 300 -hauling an RB out of Köln-Deutz- has no clue whatever that shje will be rescues to become a museum loco 20+ years later.
