60 years of the BoBo / Re 4/4 II – to mark the occasion, the Austrian Federal Railways (OeBB) organized an unprecedented Re 4/4 reunion. Among those  invited  were the Re 4/4 I, BLS Ae 4/4 and Re 4/4 (425), Re 450, and even the RhB narrow-gauge locomotive Ge 4/4 II 613. I only attended this magnificent celebration in passing and for a short time, so I can only share a few pictures here. Balsthal, September 14, 2024

The BLS Re 4/4 182 is parked in front of the depot in Brig.

Sadly, the era of this BLS locomotive series is coming to an end.

Currently, the BLS Re 4/4s are only used in motor tunnel traffic, and even there, the Re 465 is increasingly taking over services.

For a limited time only, the  collector  service from Lausanne Triage to RB Limmattal via Brig and Kandersteg will operate with two SBB Re 6/6 trains. Later, SBB 193 trains will take over traction again.

In Lausanne, the two SBB Re 6/6 trains 11622 (Re 620 022-4)  Suhr  and the SBB Re 6/6 11667 (Re 620 034-9)  Aarburg-Oftringen  are waiting for the onward journey.

The reason for the trip to Montreux on this very rainy day: the ZRT special train Frauenfeld Montreux / Aigle. Initially, I wanted to photograph the train on the  Train des Vigens  route, but the weather forecast, which I frequently consulted, advised me to implement Plan B. This was a good thing, as the light would have been barely sufficient in Lavaux, and a rainy landscape would hardly have made for an attractive picture. It was interesting to see which locomotive would be driving the train, as the ETCS train control system is installed on the last few kilometers (Chexbres - Villeneuve). The picture shows the train arriving in Montreux. As an alternative to the Montreux Christmas market, passengers could continue on to Aigle and spend a leisurely afternoon there. The train consisted of the SBB Re 4/4 II 11159, the  Le Salon Bleu  half-dining car ARmz 61 85 88-90 200-6 CH-IRSI, and the  Le Diamant Bar  dining car WRm 61 85 88-94 003-0 CH. IRSI. Centralbahn, ex-SBB 10009 stands at Konolfingen on 17 May 2025. IN 1956, SBB tried the dark blue paint job sen here on the actual loco 10009. THe blue leans very stark to the Berlin/Prussian blue used by Netherlands State Railways electric locos from 1954. Two years later, SBB however decided to go for the dark green, leaving 10009 a one-off.
