NS 7533 passes through Alverna on 18 March 2025. This Class of EMUs came to be as a rebuild of mDDM EMUs that themselves were formerly hauled by NS Class 1700 electrics untill 2000, when fifty driving trailers replaced as many 1700s to form Class mDDM (motorised DDM; being the double deck coaches for regional and urban services) 7800. From 2013 the mDDMs were given a mid-life overhaul, getting transformed into InterCity EMUs Classes 7500 (four coach EMUs) and 7600 (six coach EMUs) of the NID/DDZ design.

Gone are the EMUs Class 7800 with the NS. In 1993 massive orders for electric locomotives CVlass 1700 and double deck coaches in fixed sets modernised the NS fleet. From 2000 fifty locos Class 1700 that were deployed with three-coach train sets were replaced by BoBoBo motorised coaches that became Class 7800. From 2013 all Class 7800 EMUs were radically modernised into InterCity stock of Classes 7500/7600. On 7 January 2006 NS 7855 calls at Elst with a stopping train to Arnhem and Zutphen. By the way, DD-AR CLass 740 were four-coach train sets without a driving coach, but were coupled to locomotives Class 1700.

In the event of hostilities between the East and the West during the Cold War (in that event having turned quite hot) such EMUs would have ben commandeered by the Army to be used as mobile hospitals and in the 1960s they might have looked a bit like this: green EMUs with clearly visible Red Cross markings.
