The station was build between 1888 and 1893. The tower at the background is ofcourse not part of the station.

RFO 1831 hauls the NVBS Koningsdag train into Rotterdam Centraal on 27 April 2026. Each year, Dutch railway enthousiasts' society NVBS (Nederlandse Vereniging van Belangstellenden in het Spoor- en Tramwezen) launch a special train on Dutch tracks on the birth day of the King/Queen of the Netherlands. Since 2013, King's Day is held on 27 April, the birth day of H.M. King Willem-Alexander of Oranje-Nassau. RFO 1831 has received a special livery to celebrate the 95th annivgersary of the NVBS, hence the big '95' at the cab. 

Parallel shot: NSM 273 quits Rotterdam Centraal on 26 March 2017 as part of the good-bye to the Hoekse Lijn (Hoek van Holland<=>Rotterdam), whilst Stichting Hondekop 766 takes on a new load of passengers on this special weekend, where three museum EMUs were deployed to bid a nice farewell to the Hoekse Lijn. 

FYRA 186 117 calls at Rotterdam Centraal with an IC-Direct on 16 October 2013. The mega-flopped FYRA brandings are still on the loco, but the trains are now called IC-Direct as NS Reizigers are in the proces to sort out the mess after the V250 debacle. 
