On 16 February 2026 DB 218 497 calls at Niebüll with an IC service to Hamburg. From 1 May 2026 loco haulage of IC-1 stock between Hamburg, Itzehoe and Westerland (Sylt) will be consigned to the past with the introduction of ICE-L train sets, ending four decades of crack services of DB Class 218.
