The SNCF C 20155 UIC No. 97 85 1 932-0 (ex SBB Ee 3/3 II 16515, ex SNCF C 20155) of the "Team C-20155" association is leaving Balsthal towards Klus. The three-point signal indicates that this is a train movement. The dual-current Ee 3/3 II, originally designed as a shunting locomotive, was procured by the SNCF in a number of nine units as mainline locomotives for freight trains between Saint Louis and Muttenz. This was due to complaints from local residents following the electrification of the SNCF line between Mulhouse and Basel. This is quite surprising, as Basel was considered a stronghold of steam operation in Switzerland around 1960! Incidentally, years later, similar complaints prevented the continuous use of CC 72000 diesel locomotives for the Line 4 long-distance trains from Paris Est to Basel. In Belfort or Mulhouse, the locomotive had to be changed in most cases. But back to the SNCF C 20155 UIC No. 97 85 1 932-0 (ex SBB Ee 3/3 II 16515, ex SNCF C 20155) of the association "Team C-20155". De SNCF C 20155 UIC nr. 97 85 1 932-0 (voorheen SBB Ee 3/3 II 16515, ex SNCF C 20155) behorend tot de vereniging ‘Team C-20155’ stond achter wissel 12 in Balsthal en wachtte totdat de R22 was omgekeerd. Nu rijdt hij naar het perron om belangstellenden mee te nemen voor een rit in de bestuurderscabine naar Klus en terug. De Ee 3/3 II rijdt op blokafstand achter de halfuursdienst R22 richting Klus en keert daarna terug naar Balsthal voordat de R22 aan zijn terugreis begint. 8 november 2025 

In 1844 bereikte de eerste spoorlijn vanuit Frankrijk Basel. In 1957 werd de lijn geëlektrificeerd. Terwijl de verandering in het stroomvoorzieningssysteem geen probleem vormde voor passagierstreinen, moesten goederentreinen tussen de rangeerterreinen van St-Louis en Muttenz worden aangedreven door diesellocomotieven, wat leidde tot klachten van bewoners langs de lijn over uitlaatgassen. De SNCF kocht vervolgens negen dubbelstroomlocomotieven, C 20151 tot C 20519, die waren afgeleid van de SBB Ee 3/3 II. Vanaf 1962 werden deze kleine locomotieven, met een maximale snelheid van slechts 40-60 km/u, in dubbele tractie gebruikt voor het SNCF-goederentransport tussen St-Louis en Muttenz. De negen locomotieven werden in 1971/1972 vervangen door de SNCF BB 20200 en verkocht aan de SBB. Op 9 mei 1963 leverde de Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik Winterthur de C 20188 aan de SNCF en, zoals hierboven vermeld, verkocht deze in 1971/1972 aan de SBB, die hem gebruikte als rangeerlocomotief, laatstelijk in Basel SBB tot 2011. De locomotief ging daarna naar de industriële werkplaatsen in Yverdon, waar hij ICN-treinstellen bewoog tot 2019. In 2020 werd hij geparkeerd in Biel/Bienne en later overgebracht naar Balsthal met het doel de laatst overgebleven dubbelstroom Ee 3/3 weer in dienst te stellen. Zoals te zien is, heeft ‘Team C 20155’ uitstekend werk geleverd, en de interessante locomotief, in zijn SNCF-kleuren, is een bijzonder mooie parel op Zwitserse sporen. De foto toont de locomotief in Balsthal tijdens de voorbereidingen voor de open dag op 8 november 2025. 
