I have often mentioned that “my” popular MOB photo locations in the surrounding area are hardly suitable for the GoldenPass Express due to backlighting.

A MOB Ge 4/4 Series 8000, barely visible at the rear of the train, pushes its GoldenPass Express 4065 towards Montreux near Planchamp.

The Aem 940 017 is in diesel mode in Renens VD, so the pantograph is also lowered.

I have often mentioned that “my” popular MOB photo locations in the surrounding area are hardly suitable for the GoldenPass Express due to backlighting. Now I have found an exception: At Les Avants in midsummer, the first train can be seen perfectly in the light and in its entire, now normal length: the MOB Ge 4/4 8002 is with the Golden Pass Express GEX 4064 from Montreux to Interlaken East just before Les Avants. In Zweisimmen, a BLS Re 465 will replace the MOB Ge 4/4 8002. In the background the Valais and Savoyard Alps and, far below, Lac Léman.

Near Gstaad, the MOB Ge 4/4 8004 "Swiss Tainable" with its GoldenPass Express GPX 4068 is en route from Montreux to Interlaken Ost, with the Ge 4/4 8004 being replaced in Zweisimmen by a BLS Re 465. November 30, 2024 

The CEV MVR ABeh 2/6 7504 "Vevey" is waiting in the snowy Les Avants as R 34 2317 for the departure (from 1:13 p.m.) to Montreux (at 1:43 p.m.). As the kilometer sign on the contact line mast on the right of the picture shows, Montreux is only 8 km from Les Avants. What is not visible here is the height difference of 575 meters from Les Avants (970 m) to Montreux (395 m). January 3, 2025 
