RTI 242 543 almost took your photographer by surprise at Bratislava hl.st. on 2 June 2015. After the split of Czecho-Slovakia from 1 January 1993, all electrics Class 242.2 ended up in Czechia. However, as Ceske Drahy bought more modern traction, many 242.2 became surplus from 2015 on and found their way to Slovakian private opeartors like RTI and LokoRail, that deploy these machines not only within Slovakia, but also intraffic to Hungary and Czechia. Bulgarian Railways BZD also bought thyis type in the 1970s. In recent years, these Class 044 start to become surplus and find their way (back) into Slovak private ranks.
