August 2025
August 2025 is marked by a strong focus on modern freight operations across Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland, with multiple sightings of Crossrail Belgium, Lineas, and HSL locomotives hauling container and goods trains, particularly along routes connecting Zeebrugge, Aachen-West, and Antwerpen. The BLS network features prominently, with various units such as MIKA 528, Re 465, and RBDe 566 captured at Swiss locations like Spiez, Thun, and Goppenstein, often under overcast or rainy skies. Special events include the 150th anniversary of the Emmentalbahn, highlighted by historic steam and vintage electric trains near Grieswald and Sümiswald-Grünen. International passenger services are also present, with Eurostar sets photographed in Duffel and SBB/ÖBB trains at Bregenz and Lindau Insel. The repeated presence of maintenance vehicles, such as Scheucher BBA 665 at Pratteln and Infrabel ES 203 in Warsage, points to ongoing infrastructure work. Notable are the recurring motifs of trains passing through scenic Alpine regions, often with challenging light conditions due to weather or geography. The month also documents several open days and celebrations at depots, reflecting a mix of historical appreciation and modern railway operations. EU label: AI-generated content
