No question - SBB TILO RABe 524s are not uncommon in Gallarate on the Simplon line. But the destination of the train is surprising: Airolo (on the Gotthard). The solution to the puzzle: the SBB RABe 524 runs as S50 from Malpensa via Varese to Bellinzona and is extended to Airola during rush hour.

TILO Flirt RABe 524s have been a part of everyday operations on Treniatlia and Trenord lines for several years. But a TILO Flirt in Piedmont, more specifically in Domodossola, is a rarity. The SBB TILO RABe 524 102 (UIC 94 85 0 524 012-7 CH-FFS) rolls into the DC section of Domodossola station with its pantograph lowered. The train appears to be on a test run. August 22, 2025 
