TILO Flirts RABe 524 have been part of everyday operations on Treniatlia and Trenord lines for several years. But a TILO Flirt in Piedmont, more specifically in Domodossola, is a rarity. The SBB TILO RABe 524 102 (UIC 94 85 0 524 012-7 CH-FFS) now enters the DC section of Domodossola station with one pantograph raised. The train appears to be on test run. August 22, 2025

No question - SBB TILO RABe 524s are not uncommon in Gallarate on the Simplon line. But the destination of the train is surprising: Airolo (on the Gotthard). The solution to the puzzle: the SBB RABe 524 runs as S50 from Malpensa via Varese to Bellinzona and is extended to Airola during rush hour. May 23, 2023 
