After the travel group had certainly enjoyed a good meal at a winery in Schafis, the OeBB RCe 2/4 607 (built in 1938/manufacturer SLM, MFO, BBC, and SAAS) returned to Balsthal. I was able to photograph the elegantly designed lightweight fast railcar passing through Ligerz, where only part of the former freight shed is visible. The RCe 2/4 607 was the last of seven delivered Red Arrows. The great success of these elegant trains quickly made the limited seating capacity a problem, and the railcars were subsequently used mainly for charter services. In 1974, the OeBB purchased the RCe 2/4 607 and operated the now blue-painted railcar between Oensingen and Balsthal. After an overhaul in 1988/89, it ran again as the "Red Arrow" for the OeBB. In 2022/23, the OeBB restored the railcar to its original form, as it can now be seen and experienced. June 19, 2025 Stefan Wohlfahrt
For a special train excursion organized by Rail One (l'emission ferroviarie suisse), the SBB Historic Red Arrow RAe 2/4 1001, UIC number 094 85 75-91 001-3, could be admired in Lausanne.
