The V 240 was a DR prototype for a 2,400 HP strong, 140 km/h fast Diesel locomotive, based on the DR Class V 180 (later DBAG 228, Dicke Babelsbergerin), build in 1965. Although the locomotive did everything she should do, no series production was commenced due to the Soviet-Union, that banned all production of Diesel locomotives stronger than 2,000 HP outside the USSR. Today, the loco is part of the collection of the Dresden Verkehrsmuseum. Here she shows herself to the public at Dresden Hbf.

Former CSD T435 0554, now inpossession of the Sächsische Eisenbahnfreunde, hauls three other Diesel locvomotives near Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf on 22 August 2026 in preparation for a locomotive parade during the 33.Heizhausfest of the Sächsisches Eisenbahnmuseum SEM Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf. This type of loco is not entirely out of place since the GDR bought twenty locos of CSD Class T435, later 720. 
