The SBB RABe 511 109 is near Villeneuve on the way from Annemasse to St Maurice.
The inoui TGV Rame 4715 near Villeneuve with a blue dwarf signal as used in ETCS operations.



A TGV! at Villeneuve? - not that I have never seen one here, BUT in spring 2017 the last TGV de Neige ran from Lausanne towards Valais and back, because the connection could no longer be offered due to the conversion of the routes to ETCS. The TGV Bern - Paris via Basel ran via the main line instead of NBS due to the lack of ETCS equipment on the TGV trains. So it was more than surprising when a TGV suddenly showed up near Villeneuve today! In the picture the inoui TGV Rame 4715 near Villeneuve, the destination and purpose of the trip are unknown to me. Major action day at SNCF: This holiday weekend, numerous passengers want to travel to the Alps for their winter sports holidays or are already heading back home. For this reason, I went to Saint-Gervais-des-Bains-Le Fayet to watch the TGV holiday traffic there. Right upon arrival, the first TGV appears: TGV set 864 departs Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-Le Fayet (departure 10:23) as TGV 794 to Nantes (arrival 19:27). On its long journey, the TGV stops at Sallanches-Combloux-Megève (10:28/10:32) and Cluse (Haute-Savoie) (10:43/10:48), then only again at Massy-TGV (16:20/16:26), Le Mans (17:16/17:23), and Rennes (18:06/18:12), and most likely runs via La Roche sur Foron - Annecy. On the left in the picture is an SNCF TMR Z 850 / BDeh 4/8, parked here waiting for its next deployment. February 21, 2026
