In Lausanne, the S 40 24633, consisting of two SBB Domino trains, waits for departure to Palézieux. It's easy to see that the leading Domino consists of the former Travys ABt NPZ DO 50 85 39-43 984-6 CH-SBB, B NPZ DO 50 85 29-43 384-1 CH-SBB, and RBDe 560 DO 94 85 7 384-0 SBB-CH. Due to construction work, the train shuttled back and forth between Palézieux and Lausanne, turning around on track 3 each time. This gave me the opportunity to photograph the train in the "right" light during the coffee break this morning.

The SEG G 2x 2/2 105 of the Blonay Chamby Railway is en route with its steam train from Blonay to Chamby, crossing the newly renovated Baye de Clarens viaduct. The western section of the viaduct has been rebuilt and will be able to absorb the constant mountain pressure (or the movement of the slope) towards the Baye de Clarens Gorge without deforming the bridge.

The SEG G 2x 2/2 105 of the Blonay Chamby Railway is near Chantemerle on its way to Blonay. The new tracks on this section are clearly visible. During the renovation of the Baye de Clarens Viaduct, a layer of gravel was laid in the track area to allow road vehicles to access the construction site. This didn't look very attractive (at least for my taste), and I largely avoided taking pictures in this section.

The BFD HG 3/4 No. 3 of the Blonay Chamby Railway is near Chaulin on its way to Chamby, but is having some trouble on the damp tracks on the incline at km 8.2. However, thanks to the driver's sensitive instinct, the train doesn't break down.

Riding tunnel cinema ABe 526 290 enters Sümiswald-Grünen on 18 May 2025. THis ex-BLS/RM EMU was rebuild as a riding cinema that performs movies during tunnel rides. The 290 bears RM marking of Regionalverkehr Mittelland, that became part of the BLS in 1997.

A scene from the past: CD 150 225 has arrived at Zilina with a Rychlyk from Praha on 14 May 2015. From Hranice nad Morave to Zilina, this train could have taken two routes; one via Ostrava and Bohumin and Cadca, and the other way round via Horni Lidec and Puchov. THe Bananas/Gorillas Classes 150/151/350 have almost all disappeared from at least the Czech railway tracks.

The reason for the trip to Montreux on this very rainy day: the ZRT special train Frauenfeld Montreux / Aigle. Initially, I wanted to photograph the train on the "Train des Vigens" route, but the weather forecast, which I frequently consulted, advised me to implement Plan B. This was a good thing, as the light would have been barely sufficient in Lavaux, and a rainy landscape would hardly have made for an attractive picture. It was interesting to see which locomotive would be driving the train, as the ETCS train control system is installed on the last few kilometers (Chexbres - Villeneuve). The picture shows the train arriving in Montreux. As an alternative to the Montreux Christmas market, passengers could continue on to Aigle and spend a leisurely afternoon there. The train consisted of the SBB Re 4/4 II 11159, the "Le Salon Bleu" half-dining car ARmz 61 85 88-90 200-6 CH-IRSI, and the "Le Diamant Bar" dining car WRm 61 85 88-94 003-0 CH. IRSI.

Evening fals upon Praha-Masarykovo and CD 362 078 on 24 May 2015. Before the rise of the all-covering Najbrt colour schemes, CZech railways were rather colourfull. Electric locos had a colour scheme based on their traction with green for 3,000 Volt DC, red for 25 kV 50Hz AC and blue for dual system locos -with waist bands varying in colours from light b eige and ivory to desert and dark yelow.
