On 19 January 2015 NS 3435 quits Arnhem. Five years later, Class 3400 DM'90 were sidelined for good, although a Polisg company plans to deploy several of these DMUs in Poland.

To clear the tracks at Nijmegen, IRP 2213 hauls a batch of DM'90 Buffels out of Nijmegen on 13 November 2019. The tracks have been lifted due to the building of a new platform to cope with the massive numbers of passengers -Nijmegen has had for decades a too small station for a city of 170,000 inhabitants -not counting the many students and commuters. IRP is a daughter operator of Lineas.

The Saga ends. Decommissioned NS DM'90s BUFFEL DMUs stood from 2016 at Nijmegen for a possible sale to a Romanian operator. Unclearities in -amongst others- obligatory documentations however ended the sale in 2019. Since Prorail and Nijmegen wanted the area, where 48 BUFFELs were stored, to be cleared up for building an extra platform at Nijmegen, the sale fell through and NS bought the BUFFELs back to get them to the scrapyard. Death sentence on 3411 on 23 November 2019. After a proposed sell to a Romanian operator fell through mercilessly, a massive batch of NS DMUs, stabled at Nijmegen was consigned to the scrap yard and on 23 November 2019 some the Nijmegen batch of a score (two dozen) Buffels were hauled away, like 3411, that is at the end of the train that is about to cross the Waal bridge at Nijmegen.

NS 3402 stands sidelined at Nijmegen on 21 March 2017. After l;ess than two decades, NS decommissioned these DM 90s after having lost all Diesel operated passenger services to private operators.
