The SBB SOB IR 26 2320 service from Locarno to Basel makes a stop in Faido.

Train drivers and travelers enjoy the journey over the Gotthard Railway "Panorama" route on their journey to the south. The two SBB Giruno RABe 501 008 "Monte Ceneri" and 006 "Kt. Obwalden" were traveling from Zurich to Milano as EC 10315 when I was able to photograph the long train in Faido. A written confirmation from the locomotive driver is available, and a big thank you to Silvio for the information about the Giruno vehicle numbers.

A SOB Flirt RABe 526 209 from Basel SBB to Locarno leaves the Prato circular tunnel and will shortly arrive in Faido September 4, 2023

In addition to the ICNs pictures (see ID 54934), I also photographed the RABe 501 "Giruno" trains, which have since dominated the Gotthard axis. While they may be dominant, they are not a common sight on the "Gotthard Panorama Route": Due to planned maintenance work in the Gotthard Base Tunnel, most IC/EC trains will run via Göschenen - Airolo from Monday to Friday from January 13 to January 24, 2025. After the sun disappeared behind the mountains in Airolo at midday, it appeared in Göschenen at the appropriate time from midday. The photo was taken near the entrance signal in Göschenen and shows the two SBB RABe 501 016 "Glarus" at the front and 501 008 "Monte Ceneri" at the rear as IC 21 10671 on the journey from Basel SBB to Lugano.
