Saar Rail 151 161 runs round in Völklingen on 31 March 2026. Once ubiquitious with DB ranks and later seeing much service with private ranks, the age of six-axle Class 151 is sadly drawing to a close. So enjoy them while you still can! Leonardus Schrijvers
Saar Rail is one of the last operators to use ex-DB Class 151 electrics, but that era will also come to an end. On 31 March 2026 SR 151 161 has brought a so called "Suppenzug" (soup train) of molten steel in torpedo shaped wagons from Dillinger Hütte into Völklingen. After some to-and-fro this train stands in front of the disused old steel plant of Völklingen,m which is now an UNO Heritage Site. Leonardus Schrijvers
