On 16 February 2026 DB 218 470 hauls an RE to Westerland (Sylt) out of Niebüll and passes the old signal mast.

On 16 February 2026 DB 218 497 calls at Niebüll with an IC service to Hamburg. From 1 May 2026 loco haulage of IC-1 stock between Hamburg, Itzehoe and Westerland (Sylt) will be consigned to the past with the introduction of ICE-L train sets, ending four decades of crack services of DB Class 218. 
