I am from Bern and have studied in Basel, Zurich, and Tokyo (Japan). My work and research focus is the Japanese language and culture. I believe that hardly anything reveals as much about a culture and its communicative and cooperative abilities as the railway network and its operation – especially today in the era of major societal changes in East Asia. My oldest railway photos date back to around 1961. Since 2013, after many years in Erlangen (Germany), I have been living again in Bern.
