I did take the photo of this narrow gauge steam locomotive in the year 1998. The picture shows the "Whistling Billy", an 8 tons Porter Locomotive (0-4-0ST) once belonging to the Merced Gold Mining Co. in Coulterville / California and came to that place in 1897. (slide scanned) (zum Bild)

A nice contrast between the locomotive (in the sunlight) and the dark sky. Beautiful picture, Gilbert!

Thank you for the link Gilbert!

I also found on the site the name of this locomotive, but I'm not sure if the locomotives had allready names at the time that I took this photo.

Thank you again.

Greetings,

Hans

Hi Hans!

At this picture is very difficult to say, if this engines has a name, because the name comes after changing from SJ to LKAB. Here You have the older SJ version. The engine changes during the 90´s. Then they get the blue-grey coloure and the name. So I thing brown is without a name.

Greetings

Gilbert

Hello Manuel!

This nice train is VT 511 "Kappelrodeck". The other should be VT 510 "Oberkirch", because these units (VT509-VT513) also allowed on SNCF lines.

Hallo Maik!

MfG

Gilbert
