Most crossings in Europe and around the world are marked by some form of saltire (Saint Andrews Cross) to warn road users about a level crossing and/or about a level crossing with no barriers whatsoever. This cross is on a level crossing on the Flåm Railway line in Norway.

Train at Berekvam Station on the Flåm railway line. The line's elevation difference is 863 meters; it has ten stations, twenty tunnels and one bridge. The maximum gradient is 5.5 percent. Because of its steep gradient and picturesque nature, the Flåm Line is now almost exclusively a tourist service and has become the third-most visited tourist attraction in Norway.

Trein bij station Berekvam op de Flåm-spoorlijn. Het hoogteverschil van de lijn is 863 meter; er zijn tien stations, twintig tunnels en één brug. De maximale helling is 5,5 procent. Vanwege de steile helling en het pittoreske landschap is de Flåm-lijn nu vrijwel uitsluitend een toeristische dienst en is het de op drie na meest bezochte toeristische attractie in Noorwegen geworden.
