Within a few years, MAV (and GySEV) changed their numbering systems twice. After decades of leters and numbers (e.g. V43 or, if the Tauri had come earlier, V47), a few years locos had four class numbers (e.g. 1047) before complying within a more standardised numbering system (e.g. 470).

GySEV 470 505 celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Pan-European Picknick at the Austrian-Hungarian border at Sopron in Budapest-Keleti on 21 September 2017. This picknick saw the first real breach in the Iron Curtain, when the border guards on neither border prevented thousands of opicknickers to cross the border at Sopron. A few months later, the seemingly invincible Iron Curtain disappeared into the mists of history.
